Not what I was expecting. Not a bad movie, just a dull one. I'd heard so much about SS2TITD I probably went in with my expectations too high. I did enjoy the opening bit where the nerds took on the cool kids with flaming bags of choad, and I did like the fact it was set in 1968 and not the present, and I do have to respect the fact the film makers didn't reply on the low-hanging fruit that is a jump-out scene, but this movie felt more like an '80s episode of Amazing Stories than the product of the truly talented minds I knew were behind it. And then there was the fact I saw zero full-frontal male nudity. I paid hard-earned money so I wanted full-frontal male nudity.

On a scale of three to eight spiders crawling out of some blonde's face, I'd rate it four arachnids.

What does not kill me makes me stranger.

uuummm.... i was appreciative of the lack of any kind f nudity myself, and loved the story, the acting, the actors and sfx that was by and large NOT CGI. but then, i'm old school with this sort of movie.
have you seen the vampire's assistant: cirque du freak? that may be more your style, and also a great movie.

I thought it was a really enjoyable movie with some nice suitably creepy creature designs.  The Red Room being my favorite.
