I've concluded The Hunger Games is my favorite film series of this decade.
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

I gave up about 20 minutes into the first one when it became evident to me that it was a  rip off of Battle Royale, which I really like.
Kubrick, Nolan, Tarantino, Wan, Iñárritu, Scorsese, Chaplin, Abrams, Wes Anderson, Gilliam, Kurosawa, Villeneuve - the elite

the books were too good for me to spoil by watching the movies for awhile....

Very good books. Part of a recent golden age of dystopian genre stories.

exactly. the series brought me back to my high school days of devouring every bit of hard core scifi / dystopian fiction i could find, and made me realize that i'd like to revisit many of those books. i'm starting with ringworld, and hoping i can remember more titles...i read ALOT back then.
