This movie made me feel deceived. The promotional material with Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers had me convinced this was a biopic about the man.
I was disappointed to find Fred Rogers was nothing more than a side character and most of the movie is about some cynical a***ole that I don't care about.
I'd call myself a cynical a***ole, so I looked forward to a decent feel good movie that restores my faith in humanity. I didn't get that.

The drama around the main character was really bland, Tom Hanks's performance as Fred Rogers was nothing above acceptable (Also, I can only see Tom Hanks as Tom Hanks),
and overall I just felt really bored and mislead. But my sister and mother liked it, so whatever I guess.

If you're looking for a good movie about the life of Fred Rogers just watch Won't You Be My Neighbor? from 2018. It's a documentary and not a biopic.
But it's honestly a wonderful movie about an amazing and influential man. I'm pretty miffed that it got snubbed for Best Documentary at the 2019 Oscars but now an inferior
Mr. Rogers movie is up for one. The academy is lame.

4/10

P.S., They snubbed Willem Dafoe for The Lighthouse. May Neptune strike ye dead, Academy! HAAAAAAAAAARK!

Eh, don't listen to grumpy AJ.  There's plenty of Mr. Rogers in the movie, and it's feel good as hell. The reason Rogers isn't the main character is because that would've made for a very boring movie--Fred Rogers life was conflict-free.

I do agree that Hanks was nothing special and Dafoe should have got his nom. And the documentary is good too.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I wasn't exposed to Mr Rogers as a child but I have read a lot about him and it's fascinating that one person can be that genuinely good throughout his entire life.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.
