Some rich psycho's girlfriend dies, so he embalms her and takes the body to his villa. Which is run by his nanny? Who he is f**king but not in love with. He's to busy mooning over his dead, mummy girlfriend. It don't make it clear. It's an Italian gore movie by Joe D'Amato- who made all sortsa gory garbage.
If you like necrophilia, cannabilism, acid baths, decapitations- with no redeeming values whatsoever-this is your movie!
It's on Tubie- If you want to risk your sanity by viewing this soulless abomination.
(I kinda liked it, myself. It's so over the top insane!)

Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)
Interviewer-"Does Dracula ever end for you?
Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

I love this movie so much! It is SO messed up.

I have it as part of a Shriek Show triple feature along with Delirium and House on the Edge of the Park. I highly recommend that set! Delirium isn't too disturbing, but House on the Edge of the Park and Beyond the Darkness is quite the 1-2 punch!

I am no Jesus Franco completist but it wouldn't surprise me if this is his best movie.  I own this nasty flick.  Really disturbing, and that woman is creepy looking.  BTW, Happy Birthday Ronnie!

Beyond the Darkness as mentioned in the OP is a D'Amato movie, not a Franco.

also known as Buio Omega. It was actually released in 1979. It is only trashy & bad on the surface, in the core it delivers.

If the IMDb people think the movie is good (6.3 rating) we shouldn't be ashamed calling it good either. Makes us folks here at badmovies.org look like we have sky high standards

weird film. uncomfortably pervy. I actually sold my copy last year. I'm glad I saw it but wouldn't want to watch it again

reminded me a bit of of ABSURD, atmosphere-wise

Same director. Joe D'Amato is not trying to make you feel happy!  :bouncegiggle:

No offense but that is exactly the kind of response I love to read. Isn't this what horror should be about? Making the viewer feel uncomfortable. Beyond the Darkness certainly succeeded in that department.

Always felt it should be about entertaining people myself, especially if it can give me a good scare while doing so (sadly a rare thing). I feel uncomfortable watching reality TV shows, but I don't count that as horror.

It's not something I would sit and watch with Tiana on a movie night, that's for sure.
It's more a guilty pleasure. It's a disturbing movie.
What can you except from a guy who made a movie called PORNO HOLOCAUST (1981)?

it does succeed in that department sure, and I give it credit for that (like I said, I'm glad that I saw it), but it's not something that I actually enjoyed... there's horror films like LONG WEEKEND which I find uncomfortable in a way that fascinates me and holds my attention. BEYOND THE DARKNESS made me feel more like I was enduring it than enjoying it... ho hum!
