Popular Christmas Movies by State

Thought this was interesting. In my state the most popular Christmas film is Home Alone. Watched it last week, & it's still good, but I like It's a Wonderful Life more.

What I gather from that map is the whole country has bad taste in Christmas movies.

Though to be fair, there aren't that many good ones.

I am assuming "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (which won my state) refers to the 2000 live-action feature, not the classic 1966 cartoon.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (good film even though it's not really to my taste), MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, A CHRISTMAS STORY, A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (even though it's more a Halloween movie), ELF isn't bad. The 60s TV specials (Charlie Brown, Rudolph, the Grinch, and so forth) are more memorable seasonal fare to me than most Christmas movies. There are lots and lots of mediocre Christmas movies.

Huh.  I have never heard anybody classify Edward Scissorhands as a Christmas movie, but they claim the folks in RI think it's one.

See, I always thought Edward Scissorhands as a christmas movie, more than Die Hard, but opinions always differ.

I don't really consider Die Hard a Christmas movie either.

I guess I'll have to start considering every movie where there is even the tiniest scene set at Christmas time or happens to have some decorations somewhere in it as a Christmas movie.

I'm in PA, and Bad Santa made the grade apparently.

It's an ok enough film, funny, but it doesn't rank for me.  Not the people I'm close to, either, although it's a big state so

I'm still thinking how they came to these conclusions. Did they have 10 names the pulled out of a hat?
HOLIDAY RUSH? Nobody I know can recall that movie.
It's the Grinch cartoon.
Or Rudolf the f**king Red Nosed Reindeer. Who had a very shiny nose!
And if you even saw it- you may even say it glowed.

I've been told that before.

There's Christmas all over that movie though. Christmas is referenced 18 times in the movie's script. The data supports the notion that Die Hard (1988) is a Christmas movie and the science is settled.

Yet it still doesn't feel like a christmas movie. They did a good job at making it not christmasy.

That's okay, bro. Most people forget that Trading Places (1983) is a Christmas movie too.
