Prince Andrew sued in federal court for alleged sexual abuse

An alleged victim of deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein filed a lawsuit against Prince Andrew of Britain on Monday, accusing the embattled 61-year-old royal of sexually abusing her at Epstein's Manhattan mansion and elsewhere when she was under the age of 18, according to the complaint.

The lawsuit, filed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre in federal court in New York, comes almost two years to the day that Epstein died in a New York jail while he was awaiting trial on conspiracy and child sex trafficking charges. The legal action also comes just days before the expiration date of a New York state law that permits alleged victims of childhood sexual abuse to file civil claims that might otherwise be barred by statutes of limitations.

I find it hard to believe an American civil court will get jurisdiction over any British royal determined to avoid it. This lawsuit is intended to embarrass Andrew and harm his reputation, which I think is all the plaintiff can really hope for in this case.

I'm curious about the FBI Investigations and when they will release Info. Epstein's suicide appears to be sus, his "partner in crime" Ghislaine Maxwell's trial keeps getting pushed back.

So is his elder brother: an entitled pampered moron who married a young virginal bride just so he could have a heir and a spare as his true love's parts were all used up.

As it is a civil case rather than a criminal one, there is no chance of extradition over this. I'd much rather see him appear in a full criminal trial to determine his guilt or innocence as just accusing someone of a crime does not equate to them being guilty (although my personal opinion is that I think he most likely is guilty). It seems the case was only brought to court when attempts to negotiate financial compensation from him failed. I am not sure what would happen if a court did find in favour of Virginia Giuffre and Andrew refused to pay up. Could he potentially avoid the judgement by simply staying away from the US?

Then again, I'd have liked to see Epstein stand trial too and anyone else connected with such crimes.

It seems little has changed since the days when Michael Jackson was accused and seems to have been able to simply pay off the accusers rather than face punishment if found guilty.
