I saw a quote from Warwick Davis where he said he'd be a part of it in some capacity, but the way he said it made it sound like season 2.  So who knows.

I'm looking forward to this one, I hope it's good.  I loved Willow as a kid.

The things I've seen say that Val wasn't able to shoot on location with them, but they insist that he'll be involved in a big way and that he's a major figure in the story. 

So that sounds promising.
