A few years ago I was badmouthing the state of contemporary cinema when one of the interns I was talking to asked, "What are some movies you like?"

Off the top of my head, I said: "A River Runs Through It; LA Confidential; The Lion In Winter; Forbidden Planet; Eyes Wide Shut; Sweeney Todd; The Haunting; The Iron Giant; La Double Vie de Veronique; Gone With the Wind; The Princess Bride.; and Grave of the Fireflies, because people should be ashamed that war exists."

I think it was a decent list for off the top of my head, and I still like all those movies.

If someone asked you that question, what movies would leap to mind without putting too much thought into it?
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

Alex

Alien, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Firewalkers, The Thing, Predator, The Fog and In The Mouth of Madness.

That was my answer when I was asked this recently.

For I am my own master
I am my own god
I require no shepherd
For I am no sheep.

I get asked this all the time and I always say that I love movies like The Shining, the 1973 Lost Horizontally, District 9, Chappie, Invictus and things like Cry Freedom and Lethal Weapon 2 😉😉

Wow . . . my taste in movies is so broad, it's hard for me to narrow it down, but here goes:
THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, GLADIATOR, MY COUSIN VINNY, THE RING, TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL, ZOMBIE HAMLET, Spielberg's LINCOLN, the 2004 version of THE ALAMO, O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU, THE PRINCESS BRIDE, and STAR WARS.

RASHOMON (1950) today because I watched it yesterday.
I'd be inclined to ask what movies do you like?  Perhaps common ground can be found.
If you want to view paradise . . . simply look around and view it!

I generally say horror, sci-fi, fantasy, cult and genre films. Depending on the response I go into more detail.
