I would assume. From the El Paso newspaper after the movie's premiere. It's actually a pretty funny review, but she didn't recognize its genius.

She recognized that Torgo was the hero of the film.  :teddyr:

Yeah, had a hard time following this review until I got to that last paragraph in the synopsis.....

Oh for a time machine to go back and attend that screening.

An amusing review, and I think the reviewer was more amused by the lameness than I was.  I'd like to look at clips of just Torgo.  Otherwise...

To me, MANOS, THE HANDS OF FATE is a strange case in the world of bad movies. Yes, it looks awful, it's slow, tedious, and cheesy. Yet, it has a really nice plot, and quite awesome villains, especially the beloved Torgo, who even has a theme song.
I'm usually against remakes but I believe this is one instance in which it may be interesting to see it done well. The whole cult idea is always great, and this movie had the balls to actually make an ending that's truly creepy. The last scene of the husband receiving the new couple is actually disturbing, considering the fact that his wife and daughter ended up being prisoners also.

MANOS was ahead of its time.
