Seems some of you are prescient.

To whoever suggested Sam Neill as Dr. Octopus for the Spider-Man sequel, IMDb is currently listing him in that very role.

If anybody has any more concrete evidence, I'd love to hear it.  Other than that, just a heads up.

This was brought up in a recent thread, but as anyone can send any info they wish to IMDb, and because IMDb either can't or won't confirm it, the Sam Neill thing cannot be taken as Law or even Ape Law.

Here's what Comics2Film says on the matter:

"While a listing on the Internet Movie Data Base has everyone buzzing about Spider-Man 2 casting, Comics2Film has learned that the addition of Sam Neill to the cast list of that film is in error. Neill, a veteran of such films a Jurassic Park and Bicentennial Man, is listed as being cast in the role of Doctor Octopus. However, sources at Marvel tell us Neill has not been cast in the part. In fact, there is no casting for the movie, other than the holdovers from the original."

Sam Neill has openly admitted that he has not been casted(as the good ole Doc Ock)in the upcoming "Spider-man" sequel, which quickly killed those rumors.
Yep,the IMDB can at times be very unreliable, when it comes to immediately believing in rumors(that aren't true),since they have several movies listed that were actually planned, but never filmed(just look at the uncompleted casting list, and you'll see the truth of whether or not the mentioned movie does exist).

Hi, I'm the guy who originally posted the Sam Neill thingy.  Sam Neill was asked about it and just laughed.

http://www.superherohype.com/cgi-bin/news/fullnews.cgi?newsid1024290719,44281,

I hope the rumour will bring up his name when it comes to casting Doc Ock, I still think he would be outstanding in the role.

actor speculation is ok...but let's hope for some PLOT PLOT PLOT...

i just hope script II  is more original than the typical villian/damsel in distress plot like it was here. Mcguire actually ADDED depth to the already deep character of peter parker...it was about as dead on as you can get...

...but this script just lamed out. and raimi wasn't "raimi"-enuff.

still...better than any batman travesty...but not as good as the first couple superman flicks...or the crow.

and IMDB (for me to somewhat stay on topic...instead of raving): VERY frequently wrong in the trivia and quotes areas. i hope you guys and gals from this board will sign up and submit corrections when you discover mistakes...anything to improve a great resource like IMDB.
