HERCULES AGAINST THE MOON MEN from Something Weird Video: Joy/Disappointment

Something Weird Video has just released HERCULES AGAINST THE MOON MEN/THE WITCH'S CURSE on DVD. I was only able to view HERCULES AGAINST THE MOON MEN at this time and I must say the quality is execllent (it looks like it was taken from the original 35mm negative).

But their is a downside. HERCULES AGAINST THE MOON MEN was filmed in 2.35:1 Cromoscope. And yet, it's in 1.85:1 format and the film is stretched! This could be due to being enhanced for 16:9 TVs, but I have other DVD's that are in 2.35:1 enhanced for 16:9 and they are displayed in 2.35:1, not 1.85:1!

I am quite disappointed. Anybody ever had a same problem like this before?

I have not seen that before, but have run into stretched pan and scan versions.

Just received Russ Meyer's "Up!"  Looking forward to seeing how that transfer turned out.  He has always been picky about the quality of his movies (the home video versions), so we will have to see.  Maybe tomorrow night I will have a chance to enjoy the film.
