I think it's funny that Jerry Seinfield was making fun of his ex-co-actors (Jason Alexander, etc...) not having much commercial success after "Seinfield" and making commercials.

I think each of them had a failed tv show. I think commercialwize Jason alexander is doing better than all of them. The guy who plays kramer will probably never get another decent job in acting again. As for jerry, the only time i see anything about him is in a magazine. He gets married, he has a baby and now he's writing a silly book for little kids (with his usual shtick). Which is odd since his humor doesn't really appeal to them.

I think except for Jerry, they've all at least tried to do other T.V. shows.  If you notice, that doesn't often work out.   You always remember a particular sitcom actor from a given show because it really works when they try to go on to other shows (Howard Hessman being successfull in two sitcoms is pretty rare).  Even if the shows flop, I think they should be commended for giving it a shot; rather than put down by Seinfield as being unable to do anything without him.    Given the only thing he's done himself  has been one fairly inane Visa commercial and a pretty stupid air freshner commercial, he hasn't exactly been all that successful without them since tthe show, eitehr

Which is odd since his humor doesn't really appeal to them.

 I think the problem is that everyone involved forgets that a character in a show is popular partly because of the actor, partly because of the writing, and partly because of the character. Put the actor in another show and you're only getting 1/3 of what made them popular.

Actors in tv shows truly have to be "character actors" becuase it's a long running show that comes into our homes each week (or nite in some cases) vs. a movie which is a one shot deal. With a movie (w/o sequels) we can often see how someone else could have been better for a role, but once you get used to a certain actor in a tv sitcom it's hard to not only think of someone else in that role, but of them in another role. Took Clooney awhile but he managed to break away from ER into film - but that isn't a guarantee for for all actors who may only ever be a tv type. The guy who plays kramer for instance, never saw him in anything prior to that (i'm sure he was) and that speaks volumes. Because maybe he isn't all that talented with other roles ..but this just happened to be THE role that he could do and make unique. Jason alexander tho I remember from movies, and elaine (tho each had smaller parts)

TV really pays big in some cases - those friends stars are probably make as much if not more than some movie actors...which is why it seems alot of movie actors are turning to tv (when i can remember the days when that was sinking low and the ideal was to always move on or stay in film)

He played the goofy butler in Transylvania 6-5000. A lot like Kramer actually...

He also played Stanley Spudowski in Weird Al's great UHF.  He was like the retarded cousin of Kramer.

I think it's partly that people get used to seeing the characters, but probably more to do with the fact that most sitcoms suck anyway.  Very few actually get renewed for another season, let alone become long running hits.  If these sitcoms didn't star well-known actors nobody would remember them.

Also, it should be pointed out that none of the principal in actors in "Seinfeld" ever need to work again.  Especially Jerry Seinfeld himself.
