NO MORE BATMAN MOVIES PLEASE!!!
by Tommy

Despite Batman’s popularity with children, I can’t stand the character.  Maybe it’s the DC writers or Warner Bros., but the comics, cartoons and movies have REALLY sucked.  I especially hate Batman Beyond... my kid brother loves it, although Dragon Ball Z is quickly overtaking his interest.

The Batman movies should have ended with “Batman Returns,” which isn’t as good as “Batman.”  The movies that followed were really crapola even with the addition of more star-studded power.

“Batman: the Animated Series” began strong and branched out with more Batman cartoons that haven’t lived up to expectations.  As we follow the show, we find out that Batman can oust a high-profile villian like Bane, yet gets knocked out by a couple of thugs in suits.  His ego never ceases to amaze me or drop off the charts â€" “I am the Night,” “Who are you and when are you leaving?” [directed at Spawn].

I sincerely hope we are not due for another Batman movie.  The writer’s have really lost their touch.  We’re talking about stories like Batman defeating Superman, and the Hulk...  Tim Drake betraying Batman, Batgirl in “Birds of Prey,” and the ridiculous “Batman Beyond.”

Batman IS super-human... Oh yes, he can leap from one skyscraper to the next.  Spiderman at least offers us the explanation that his super strength allows him to keep his arms entact as he’s swing across the NYC skyline.  Batman simply propells himself through Gotham with no force on his arms which would simply ripp off without super strength.  Also the notion that Batman has defeated Superman with his brains and the Hulk with nerve strkes is as ludicrous as every Batman afficiondos comment, “Batman is just like you and I.”

I don't think there will be another one, after the heinous Batman and Robin! I still get nightmares.

I'd be open to another one if they canned the whole cast and started from scratch with the same guiding premises that governed the first movie...  But that's a tall order and I agree that no more Batmans would be far preferable to another Batman Forever or Batman & Robin...  I even thought Batman Returns was several steps down from the original.

He'll be back in one form or another eventually.  Hollywood loves a pre-sold idea.

I thought that (and don't quote me on this) there was talks of have a movie called Batman: Year One.  Or did that fall through.

Heard there wre actually three Batman flicks in the works. There is the Batman Year One (the "old skool" Batmobile looks sweet). Heard there is also a Dark Knight Returns movie being made. There was a rumour of Kurt Russel playing the old geezer Batman. Plus there is a World's Finest movie in the works. Thankfully there has been no word of Val Kilmer, Chris O'donnel or Alicia Silverstone in any of these. So much wood in those actors the last time I watched them I got splinters...
