Apparently, us weird movie lovers are the only things keeping the company afloat (wild assumption).  From the Wall Street Journal online:

"For a live demonstration before an audience of 500 people, Mr. Bezos once
logged onto Amazon.com to show how it caters to his interests. The top
recommendation it gave him? The DVD for 'Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity.'
That popped up because he had previously ordered 'Barbarella,' starring Jane
Fonda, a spokesman explains."

Here is the full article.  It is about computer programs making assumptions on human behavior, like the Amazon.com recommends lists.

Whoa! That's one of the funniest articles I have ever read about the matter.

If you want to see how  dumb computers can be sometimes, just search for your  favourite movie in IMDB and then the related "recommendations". Somehow the people at IMDB (or their computers) thought that if I enjoyed  "Apocalypse Now Redux", I'd enjoy "the fight Club" and "Braveheart" as well.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I agree. Their top recommendation for Comedy Central's uber-tasteless Strangers With Candy is the Disney children's cartoon Recess.
