I've already explained my position on Speilberg. I shant re-engage the subject.

I don't hate Spielberg as much as some (I'll see his movies if they look interesting), but I do think he's pretty overrated. Just once, I'd like to see him do a movie in 16mm with a low budget and no help from John "Instant Grandiosity" Williams, to see how strong his talents are underneath the budgets.

Yeah. I haven't seen A Beautiful Mind, but despite all the good reviews, I find it hard to believe that Opie is a better director than Robert Altman and David Lynch.

For low budget spielburg watch Duel and Jaws, both were low budget. Plus, Williams only writes music. thats it.

"A Beautiful Mind" is an all-around amazing picture, full of bizarre hallucinations and spooky special effects.  Very much worth seeing by all who frequent this site.
As far as the Academy Awards go, the only thing I care about is Daniel Day Lewis getting a Best Actor nod for his utterly self-less(I mean, there was no "actor" visible, just the character of Bill the Butcher) performance in "Gangs of New York", easily the bloodiest, goriest mainstream movie I've ever seen -- I cannot believe that with the number of gore fans on this site that this movie hasn't been already analysed to death here !!
