Dolph Lundgren

Everyone should show their support and appreciation for the best action star on the planet by naming your favorite Lundgren movie.  I know it's a difficult decision, so list more than one if you just can't decide.  Here are my top picks:

1.  Army of One (aka The Joshua Tree):  What can I say, this is the first Dolph movie that I saw, and it made me a fan.  It's somewhat of a sentimental favorite for that reason alone, which is why it's my number one pick, although a lot of people will probably disagree.  But this one has three reasons for watching:  1.  Dolph's in it.  2.  An amazing gunfight in a warehouse located in the desert - John Woo probably saw this and figured that Dolph looked like a natural with two guns blazing, and Blackjack was born as a result.  And 3.  A great car chase between a Ferarri and a Lamborghini towards the end of the movie.  Mix together, and you've got a great bad movie.

2.  Bridge of Dragons:  Just an all-around underrated flick.  Great action scenes, stupid story.  But seriously, who watches a Dolph movie for a great story?  The action sequences are what propels this film.

3.  The Punisher:  Best superhero flick ever made, and I'm not ashamed to say it.  For some reason, Dolph works perfectly as Frank, IMO.  Add a lot of gratuitous violence and no story and viola, you've got another Dolph classic.

4.  Tie between Blackjack, Universal Soldier, and The Peacekeeper:  All three great flicks, but there are some things that bring the movies down overall.  Universal Soldier would've been number 2, however, Van Damme, the #2 king of action flicks, decided to prance around nude just a little too much.  I would've enjoyed Blackjack more if the main villain was better, instead, he was some guy who loved theater and stuff like that.  The fear of white almost made up for it, though.  The milk scene was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.  The Peacekeeper was great as well, but after the sweet rooftop car chase, the rest of the movie just can't keep up.  However, all three of these movies should be seen at all costs.

Honorable Mentions:  I Come in Peace, Hidden Agenda, Silent Trigger, Men of War, Showdown in Little Tokyo, Masters of the Universe, Hidden Assassin, and Red Scorpion.  All fantastic movies in their own right.

What the hell was Dolph thinking?:  Agent Red, The Minion.  It's tough defending Dolph on these two.  Hey, the guy probably just needed the money, right?

The Rest:  Who hasn't seen Rocky IV?  The rest are worth checking out, they rank somewhere towards the middle/last.

So what are your guys' choices?  Feel free to agree/disagree/argue/whatever else comes to mind.

I think I Come in Peace is my favorite Dolph movie.

Not a Dolph afficianado, but I enjoyed Men of War, I think that's as close as Dolph ever got to a "message movie". I also liked Black Jack, but I've noticed that as Dolph get's older he looks more and more like Chuck Connors!

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.

I love MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. Period.

Just saw SILENT TRIGGER. More nonesense from Russell Mulcahy, who should spend less time fiddling with the camera and lighting (though the movie looks great) and more time on getting a decent script. Why was Dolph's character still working for a company (the "Agency") that he's already betrayed and that wants him dead? Does Mulcahy actually read the scripts he's given?

The Burgomaster

After ROCKY IV, I had seen enough of Dolph for two lifetimes.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

The Burgomaster

Actually, if ALBERT PYUN directed a movie starring DOLPH LUNDGREN, CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT and DAVID CARRADINE, with special cameo appearances by ROBERT GINTY, MICHAEL DUDIKOFF, WINGS HAUSER and LINDA BLAIR, and it was released by GOLAN-GLOBUS, it would automatically be the worst movie of all time.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

C'mon Burgomaster, give the Dolphster a chance.  You might just come out a fan.  Rocky IV was a good mainstream movie, but you have to dig deeper.  Trust me, classics like The Punisher, Army of One, Universal Soldier, etc. are just what anyone needs.

And as for your movie idea, please don't give them any ideas.  I could actually see this happening, although Ice-T will probably be thrown into the mix  somewhere.

Fearless Freep

Yeah, I just saw Dolph in "I Come In Peace".  Pretty decent movie.  Although it did take me a second to recognize the main character as Lundgren.  He wasn't at all what I expected after Rocky IV.

He actually reminded me of Micheal Pare

I liked the Punisher, and Universal Soldier has long been a child hood favorite for action flicks. I sadly am not all that on par wih Lundren flicks and almost got hurt in th last encounter with one of his movies.

I told Wal-Mart that that many Dolph flicks in one bracket would kill somebody! the concentration was just to large!

Dolph Lundgren

What was the name of the movie that you hated, haze?  Yeah, Dolph's made a few bad ones over the span of his career, but then again, who hasn't?

This weekend's bad movie entertainment for me includes The Last Warrior

Cool Freep, I hope you have a good time with it.  Truthfully The Last Warrior is the only Dolph movie that I haven't seen.. yet.  But I do plan on getting around to it some time.  I've heard some mixed things, though.  I guess it just depends on how big of a Dolph fan you are.  Let us know if you end up liking it or not!

My two picks are "Silent trigger" (great visuals, and it is really entertaining) and the first half of "The Peacekeeper", with the rooftop chase and the shooting around the hotel.

On the far, far end of the list there are "Joshua Tree" (the movie just looks ugly to me) and, specially, "The last patrol". "Rocky IV" would be there as well for being intelectually and politically embarrasing (what did you expect? Stallone wrote it) if Lundgren had had more dialogue and / or screen time.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

The only way I like to view Mr. Lundgren is down on the ground knocked out like in Rocky 4!!

EVERY film he's starred in in my opinion other than the aforementioned has been CRAP!!

Plain & simple!!

If I see a film with him as a star....I make it my mission to burn it!!!

He may be a cool guy as a person but as an actor, HE SUCKS & HE KNOWS IT!!!!

I avoid ALL of his films like the plague!!
