Lori and I had some fantastic barbecued ribs for dinner tonight, and I, being the twisted person I am, suggested that we should have rented Fried Green Tomatoes as the perfect accompaniment.

It got the reaction I'd hoped for: "Eeeewww!"

The idea reminded me of an evening a couple of years ago, when a buddy and I found nothing better to do than split a big bottle of rye while watching Leaving Las Vegas.

So, what are some other great combinations?

I will always remember when I watched"Mars Attacks!"while eating ethnical South American food.

I will always remember it because I had diarreah the next day...

The worst combo I've ever tried was pizza and Faces of Death.  (the first one)

Not a good choice!

I don't even think I finished a single slice.

Mrs. Apostic and I like to host movie theme parties and pick the right food to go with them.  For example, we had Big Bug Night (Them, Beginning of the End, Giant Spider Invasion) and served grasshoppers (the drink), grasshoppers (the cookie), bug juice (lemonade with a tiny bit of blue food coloring), gummy bugs, and red cinnamon candy shaped like ants.

Unfortunately, the sugar crash occured during Giant Spider Invasion....

Motell Hell - Cold cuts, beef jerky, pig's feet
Phatasm movies - Anything with lots of mustard
The Beast - Kalimari(Calimari?)
Mimic - Lobster (I know it's not exactly the same, but try to eat a lobster while watching a movie about giant bugs)

Dead Alive and cust... hell, anything.  The ear scene made me shut the tape down.  Ee-yuck.

"The Stuff" and ice cream.
"Flesh Gordon 2" and yams.
"Spiders" and blue crabs.
"Cane Toads" and frogs' legs.
Snow cones go well with "Jack Frost."
Fried chicken is fitting for many Girdler films.
Funny and obscure sight gag:  beef with chinese vegetables for "Destroy All Monsters"

As I don't think I'd like pickled earthworms in aspic from "Lair of the White Worm," I don't think I'll try that for dinner, as I watch the movie, but, I do like spaghetti, so, I'll try that, the next time I watch the movie. Enjoy!
