The Burgomaster

This show was on briefly during the 1970s. The host was Don (Maxwell Smart, Tennessee Tuxedo) Adams. They had contestants act out scenes from famous movies. They always had celebrities acting opposite the contestants in supporting roles. (I specifically remember an episode where Milton Berle was the celebrity guest star). Most of the show was like watching a "gag reel," as the contestants and the celebrities muffed their lines, got hit with boom mikes, knocked over sets, dropped props, etc. At the end, they showed the final, finished scenes and then the judges picked one of the contestants as the winner. The winner got a walk-on role in a movie or television show.

Does anyone remember this?

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Fraid I can't remember that show..OH YEAH! I can't because I was born in 1987 HA HA HA HA! (seriously I was thinking: "never heard that show" because maybe it had reruns or something)

I don't think it was ever in re-runs. It was only on for about 1 season (maybe less). Then it just disappeared. (And we're probably better off).

Remember it?  Yes I do.  Wonder if the winners ever got anything after the walk on?  No I don't .

American Idol?  No it wasn't....

I remember one where they did they Robin Hood and Friar Tuck crossing the river from Adventure of Robin Hood. It was very entertaining.

Funny show....watched it all the time!

The one episode I remember was when a female contestant was in a recreation of the unmasking scene from the 1943 PHANTOM OF THE OPERA with Claude Rains. I've never forgotten that one!

"Mein Führer! I can walk!!"

Flangepart

Yep. Funny show. Lots of Blooper type gags involved. Thats the premise realy...let the contestents give it their all, and watch the screw ups.

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Let me expand on my previous message. Yes. The screen test I remember was for a scene from the film "Murder, He Says." When I saw the film later, I thought the screen test was better then the actual scene.
