I first bought this TERRIFIC Weird Movie Book in 1999 and I'm still a newbie at this board so for all I know it's been discussed here before, but I was wondering if anyone else here is as fond of that book as I am? Not since I bought the book INCREDIBLY STRANGE FILMS in 1986 has a film book impressed me so much!  Not even the PSYCHOTRONIC volumes have had as much impact on me as MONDO MACABRO!
It's look at obscure movies around the world did what it's publicity blurbs claimed...It QUADRUPLED my must-have movie list!
I'm STILL trying to find the Philippine films of ZUMA, the big green bald guy who has pythons growing out of his neck, plus the Japanese horror/action movie EXOR-SISTER, not to mention the Indian Fim HUNTERWALI and virtually EVERY movie  they mention in their chapter on Turkish cinema!
Any other fans of this book at this site, or am I metaphorically the weirdest guy in the room again?

Jeez...I got a copy from a bookstore not too long ago [as in, within the last year] for whatever the cover price was.  You might want to check brick and mortar bookstores before you go online.

The book is good, but not as good as IMMORAL TALES, a collaborative work which covered European films.  I've heard tha the author Pete Tombs is currently saying stuff like he regrets writing MONDO MACABRO because it was better when the movies were obscure and unknown, or words to that effect.  Duh.

I have a copy of ZUMA.  It's rough going--the book makes it sound better than it really is, but I got it through PLANET XYZ video, one of the video dealers out there.  They're based in Texas, don't have the address handy right off, but it's a good source--cheap and they have a lot of stuff.

Thanks, jmc, for the heads-up about PlanetXYZ video having ZUMA!
