Saw "Hulk", thought it had enough Hulk Smash, could have made the rest of the movie shorter...

They had a trailer for a "Cat In the Hat" movie.  Live action.  With...  Mike Myers.
A friend and I were two of the four people in the audience.   I swear we both heard Dr. Seuss spinning in his grave.  Why, Hollywood?  Why?!

-----ooo-'U'-ooo----Kilroy was here.

to answer that questionI'll point out that mirimax wants to doa contemporary remake of 'the seven samurai' blasphemers.

save the world, kill a politician or two.

Actually, they wanted to make CAT IN THE HAT a few years ago with Tim Allen but he rejected the script because they loaded Dr. Seuss' childrens classic with fart jokes and scat humor.

I'm not a fan of Tim Allen but I'm glad he did that. At least it shows he has some class.

If God is watching us, the least we can do is be
entertaining.

I saw the same trailer. Had to pick my jaw up off my chest. After seeing how badly the Grinch sucked, I wouldn't have thought it likely another Seuss classic would be turned into a grandiose, overhyped, overmerchandised bastardization. Unfortunately, there is a whole pile of little kids who don't know any better, and they make this crap profitabl, along with parents who aren't very discriminating about what they buy for their kids.

Why not?  "The Magnificent Seven" turned out ok.  Even "Battle Beyond The Stars" was pretty entertaining.

True, Seven Samurai is probably one of the more successfully adapted stories.

Of course, the Italian shlock-fest "The Seven Magnificent Gladiators" was also based on "The Seven Samurai" (yeeesh!)

As long as they don't try to redo the exact original script and characters....hey, who could replace Mifune?
