i haven't thrown down a recent view in a while. here's one i haven't heard much about.

hmmm, what famous movie influenced this title?

Evil Ed - 1996 (Unrated). (VHS---don't waste your time with the severely edited 88 minute DVD from Image Entertainment) Cowritten and directed by Anders Jacobson. Mild mannered Eddie is transferred to the "splatter and gore" department of a film company where he must edit the horrific contents of splatter flicks. Eddie starts to severely lose it and begins hallucinating. His boss Sam Campbell, named after real life genre heroes Sam Raimi (director of the Evil Dead movies) and Bruce Campbell (star of the Evil Dead movies), ignores Eddie's concerns that he might require professional help and winds up paying the ultimate price. So do a lot of other people as well. This entertaining film includes many references that horror fans will have fun picking up on. A decent semi-gem if you think you've rented everything under the sun already. RECOMMENDED (just stay away from the 88 minute DVD which severely edits, among other things, the bloody ending).

i must digress.  this movie gave me a headache the size of i dont know.  maybe its because i have the edited version (got  it from blockbuster last night for negative 2 dollars).  the lines were terrible and seemed  as if they would never be uttered in real life (don't you  to do that).  I may try to watch it again but i'm not sure how long it'll take me. However I must give respect to Soldier Boy Nick (the original soldier boy before the guy from Cut!)
Why oh why did the military dudes suck so?

but I did like the Evil Dead references (especially the criminals getting ready)
Sorry if  this seems a bit scasttered.  I just got home from working the linkin park metallica concert here and then watched the movie so I'm not comletely coherent

Well that was fun...in a f****in' sick, terrible, not at all fun kinda way.

hey perk.

the edited version cuts about 2 to 3 minutes, but they are very key minutes. for instance, you missed the actual ending which includes a cool double amputation and decapitation.  the movie's pay-off.

another instance is when eddie beats up nick the film boy. in the real version he punches nick in the head about 27 times (i counted). in the edited version he only hits him once and it isn't even really shown---it "fades to black" (my metallica reference).

there are other instances such as a foot hacking scene and an impalement scene that help make the movie "fun" compared to today's overproduced fashion teen garbage.

i'm disgusted to see that the dvd is edited as this is the version that has a longer shelf life and will probably find the larger audience (i rented it from Netflix---luckily i also own the unedited vhs). what confuses me is that it was edited at all (which is ironic of couse given the subject matter). it didn't seem any worse than say House of 1,0000000000 corpses or the brain scene in Hannibal.

cheers.

Cool site Mr. Henry, you might want to fix the homepage link on your profile page..it begins with the badmovies site so it doesn't give a direct link unless you delete that out or type in your full site.

As for quest for fire review:
>>prehistoric lovin', spear-chucking fun.<<

Too much lovin for me. Unfortunately i'm stuck with the dvd now. You have quite a bit of obscure movies on your list that even I haven't seen...with alot of pics

I think there's enough b-movie reviews out there to do the world justice. I barely have time to review movies i've seen in the theater..i wish i had that kind of time or i'd be writing up reviews of every movie i've ever seen..alas i am doomed to wander the earth as an unfortunate victim of my career circumstances :)
