These are all great examples, but I'm surprised no John Carpenter fan has suggested the fistfight from They Live. And with the mentions of John Wayne, I don't recall The Quiet Man coming up.

Here's half of swordfights.

SWORDFIGHTS
1. Jason and the Argonauts(the skeletons)
2. Hamlet(Mel Gibson version)
3. Die Another Day
4. Macbeth(Maurice Evans version)
5. The Great Race(I know you're staring, but it's both exciting and tense)
6. The Matrix Reloaded(Okay, so I lied about half. Big deal.)

Same as before, folks.

Best action sequence: The end of A Better Tomorrow 2.

Evil Matt

The last twenty minutes or so of "Taxi Driver" was probably as good as any twenty minutes of film has any right to be.  As for swordfights, you've got Inigo vs. The Dread Pirate Roberts (aka Cary Elwes) in "The Princess Bride" and Luke vs. Darth Vader in "Empire Strikes Back".  Unless lightsabers don't count.

Everything's funnier with monkeys.
