EL MARIACHI (1993) - Now I have seen the original EL MARIACHI. It's ok, but  I like DESPERADO better. Especially when Cheech Marin is telling the story of the man with the guitar case. Well EL MARIACHI is ok for a low budget film. I had to rent it since I seen the ending on Bravo the other day. It rates up there with George Romero and Troma type stuff in my opinion.

NEC

Personally, I like El Mariachi better, but that is just my personal taste.

Dunners

I havent seen it yet, but I did buy his book "Rebel without a crew"

amazing read so much isnight and coolness.

save the world, kill a politician or two.

Gecko brothers

they're both good in their own way

el mariachi is good because it was the first and had a lot of good points, but was of lower budget [which is fine by me, but desperado was able to have better action]

desperado had steve buscemi, which is why i like desperado better, but not by much!

i just love the dvd: two movies in one! yay.

did anyone watch that bedhair video that is included on it.  wierd stuff...

The Burgomaster

EL MARIACH is far superior to DESPERADO.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Ancient Flounder

I like both.  I think they should've done more with the mechanical hand that the main character acquires at the end of El Mariachi.  His hand gets pretty much destroyed in that and in Desperado, they pass it off only as a bullet scar.  When I think about it, though...it would be kinda weird to see Antonio Banderas with a metal hand throughout Desperado.
