First off, I wanted to thank each and every one of you for the well-wishes and good thoughts.

My sister Kirsten died this morning at 6:45am, her battle against breast cancer is now over (NOT LOST).

I had mentioned previously that I had the chance to see her before the end, about a month ago. I wanted to tell her how much I cared and would miss her but I knew if I opened my mouth, I'd lose it - and I couldn't do that in front of her 6-year old daughter.

So I wrote her a note, and gave it to her before I left.

This morning, my other sister told me that Kirsten really appreciated the note I had given her. Wow...

Since this is Breast Cancer Awareness month, please tell the women [and men, thanks ASHTHECAT for reminding us this isn't just a female disease] that you care about to get checked, also to give to a breast cancer donation if they are able.

Thanks again folks, I will be around the boards...

While on a journey, Chuang Tzu found an old skull, dry and parched.
With sorrow, he questioned and lamented the end of all things.
When he finished speaking, he dragged the skull over and, using it for a pillow, lay down to sleep.
In the night, the skull came to his dreams and said, 'You are a fool to rejoice in the entanglements of life.'
Chuang Tzu couldn`t believe this and asked, 'If I could return you to your life, you would want that, wouldn`t you?'
Stunned by Chuang Tzu`s foolishness, the skull replied, 'How do you know that it is bad to be dead?'

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. My best thoughts are with you.

My condolences, hopefully she's at peace now.

So sorry to hear of your loss.

I remembered your post and was wondering the other day about her and how she was doing.

After losing my only brother just over 3 months ago in that motorcycle accident, I know probably more than anyone on this board right now how you must be feeling.
It hurts so much...those who have not experienced the death of a sibling can only imagine the grief and pain one feels and believe me, it's bad.  Losing my brother was probably the most devastating thing I have ever experienced thus far in my life.

Like you said before, at least you saw it coming and had the chance to say goodbye...I didn't have that luxury.  The news came to me as pure shock followed by extreme numbness & disbelief.
Seeing his body in that beautiful casket made me realize that his life here on earth was indeed over.  Your sister and my brother now have new lives in another place...I'm sure of it.  Because I pray to God and to my brother often, I'll ask my brother to say hi to her.  Maybe he can show her around the place!

How old was she by the way?

Anyway, there are many websites out there that help you to learn how to deal with grief...I would suggest visiting them..they do help.  They definitely helped me.  Also, if a funeral home is taking care of her now, ask them for pamphlets on dealing with it.  The funeral home that cared for my brother had stacks of them.
If you need to chat with someone else who has gone through the same thing (me) e-mail me at ashthecat3@yahoo.com
I'm here to talk if you need to.

Again, you and your family have my deepest sympathy.

Take care.

This prayer was read by the pastor at my brother's funeral and I find that it does help.  I substituted my brothers name with your sister's.  By posting it, I also assume that you are Christian.

"Gracious God, in the pain and sorrow of Kirsten's death we are confronted again with our own mortality.  We spend so much time grasping after fleeting pleasures.  We ignore the gifts of life you give us each day.  We forget that you have claimed us in baptism and that we belong to you.  Transform our weaknesses by your strength, that we may be alive to Christ, trusting in you to lead us through our days and bring us with all your saints into your eternal rest; through Jesus Christ, our Lord."

You have my condolences.  It's good that you got to spend time with her before the end.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.  Just know that you are in the thoughts of everyone on the board.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.
