the other day at a small department store in my small town i found two dvds for 4.99 each. the discs are put out by cinema classics. i haven't watched them yet so i don't know what the quality is like but here is what i got:

5 movies on one disc with bela lugosi: the gorilla, the devil bat, the human monster, the invisible ghost, and the ape man

also got a disc with 4 sci-fi flicks: voyage to the prehistoric planet, they came from beyond space, abraxas: guardian of space, and first spaceship on venus.

total cost, about 10 bucks.

"to be is to do" - Socrates
"to do is to be" - Jean-Paul Sartre
"do be do be do" - Frank Sinatra
- kurt vonnegut

With 4 and 5 movies per disc, you know the picture quality will not be good, but that's part of the charm of these old b's for me.....grainy film, too dark picture....reminds me of back in the day where you could see these kinds of movies late late night on uhf stations.  I have copies of a few of those; I think Ape Man is my favorite. Good find.

Cinema Classics? Uh oh. Sounds like a bootleg transfer. How is it?

I've got the 5 movie disc.  The movies are short, 60 to 75 minutes each.  The quality is as good as can be expected for 60ish year old movies -- some scratches, etc., but overall very watchable.  No extras though.

Lots of fun to see these Bela flicks.

I do have voyage to the prehistoric planet, they came from beyond space (I think),  and first spaceship on venus.  1960s British sci-fi.  They kind of lag a bit, but some of the sets are very funny.

Not Abraxas though.  Isn't Jesse Ventura in that one?

I bought this also about a month ago. Very good films and good quality. I liked all of them.

THE GORILLA  with the Ritz Brothers they have a different type of comedy. The maid (i can't remember ther name) was also in ABBOTT AND COSTELLO: HOLD THAT GHOST. She is funny.

THE HUMAN MOSTER is a good film made in England.

THE APE MAN is hilarious. Bela Lugosi is to much.

THE INVISIBLE GHOST is probably the least entry of the bunch, but it's always good to see Bela Lugosi.

THE DEVIL BAT with Lugosi using purfume and bats to kill his enemies.
