Has anybody seen this ridiculous B-flick yet? Apparently it's got some interesting reviews. I'm still scared to rent it though because of how disgusting it sounds.

Ash

Cold Fusion Video has a review of it.

Go here to view it:

Also, if you do a search of this phorum, you'll find that it has been discussed here on this message board before several times.  Try that as well.

Velvet Brotha

Whoops! My bad.. sorry about that. Thanks for the info though.

"I'm still scared to rent it though because of how disgusting it sounds."

Me too, man.  I plan to rent it, but not until I am at the video store and the only person behind the counter is the guy who speaks poor English (I think he's Indian).  I'm just afraid of the look I'd get renting it from someone who knows the meaning of the word "turd."  It looks hilarious.

Velvet Brotha

Fear not Erik... I just saw the movie today and I actually felt guilty for liking it. ; ) It's really not all that bad.

The girl at the front counter got her panties in a ruffle when I told her what it was about. Immature broad... I personally give it 2 out of five ***Stars*** Not a great film but an ok way to kill a couple of hours and get a few laughs. That's saying alot considering the fact that most films of this caliber suck ass. Uh, no pun intended...

Hey, Velvet, thanks for the kind words. Glad you got a chuckle out of it. We're currently working on the sequel: RetarDEAD. The movie picks up where Monsturd left off, only instead of carrying on the $hit joke, we're making a crazy, zombie gore fest. You can listen to new RetarDEAD end theme at our website www.retardead.com.

Hey Rick,
What was your budget for Monsturd and how long did it take to shoot?

Velvet Brotha

You're very welcome Rick. It's always gratifying to see other independents doing well and making a name for themselves. It gives us hope for OUR ridiculous productions. : ) I'd rather give my money to someone that deserves it, rather than to some pompous Hollywood schmuck.

Rick Popko

Hey, Ashthecat, to answer your question, our production budget was about $3,000. This does not include the price of the camcorder we shot it on (a Canon GL-1--$2,500) or the editing software (Pinnacle DV500 with Adobe Premiere--$900). The bulk of our budget went to:
1. Cop car rental $400 (for a one day rental)
2. Costumes (we bought real cop uniforms-$500)
3. The Monsturd ($400 worth of spray foam insulation)
4. The shotgun mic ($250)
5. The Yellow work lights ($80)
6. DV Tape stock ($200)
Actors $0
Music (our composer settled on 10% of the gross)
7. Misc props ($400)
That's pretty much all of the big ticket items.
