Yesterday my husband was fired after putting in five years as a Maintenance Supervisor. His job decription says he is in charge of upgrading the property and curb appeal. Last weekend he painted the apartment signs and the DM didn't like it.  He is depressed now.

Sorry to hear that.  But it does sound like he has some marketable skills, so hopefully he will find another position soon.

Professor Hathaway:  I noticed you stopped stuttering.
Bodie:      I've been giving myself shock treatments.
Professor Hathaway: Up the voltage.

That really sucks!  A year and a half ago my wife, who is a registered dental assistant, was fired after 15 months on the job because she 'didn't fit in'.  This just happened to occur about the time she was going to be able to participate in the profit sharing plan there.  The Dentist didn't even have the balls to do it himself and we found out that the same thing happened to her replacement.

She found another job after about 5 months that she loves and is really appreciated at.  When you're fired like that and you know you were doing a good job it can really take a toll on your self-esteem.

Try to let him know that sometimes these things can be a blessing in disguise and that he has some folks here pulling for him.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Bummer, sorry to hear that.  Hopefully he'll get a new job soon.
The DM sounds like a jerk.  Usually a supervisor will just tell you to redo it.

Damn! I hope he can find a job soon! What a $#%^ prick of a DM!
Jeez I hope he isn't depressed for too much longer. I'd go for vengence to the DM!

Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

I recommend that he apply for unemployment benefits right away.

Remember that most states have that "at will" employment setup where a job can let you go and not even need to have a reason.

Either way....sorry to hear this....it sucks!

Treat every day as if it is your last. My little work motto is "consistent, friendly, and effective". Sometimes people are just losers and it's to bad when those loser(s) are your supervisors, but that is the breaks sometimes people either like you or don't like you and it simple dosn't matter what you do on the job.

Unfortunately many  have responsibilities (family, rent, mortgage, payments) and this prevents us from taking the proper actions in life. The whole thing boils down to a  society and world that has no true goal.

One time I saw an employee get fired at a screen printer factory. They printed the words YOUR FIRED on a pink tee-shirt and gave it to him. This is the upmost cruelty that I've ever seen. Alot of the employees were young and on their first full time job and really didn't know what to think about it at the time.

Sorry to hear about that Ellie. Hope things turn out all right.
