Weird problem with DVD player on X-Box

My friend has a X-Box we have noticed a weird problem with it when we play movies on it.The screen will repedeatly lighten and darken.This is a very annoying thing to have happen when you are watching a movie.
Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix for it.

This happened on my playstation 2 a little while ago - I think when you watch too many films on home video game systems, the motor starts to burn out.

I don't know of a fix, but perhaps there's a forum on X-box.com or something that may help.

You crazy nuts, it's because of the macrovision copy protection on the DVDs!

If you have the X-Box hooked up through a VCR or something that may be the problem -- the DVD thinks you're trying to record it's contents and purposely adjusts the brightness/contrast to prevent it.

Hook the X-Box up directly to the TV instead and the problem should be fixed.

Ah that might be it.My friend has a playstation too and he has this crazy set up to let youy play the playstation and the x-box with out having to switch cables.Its all hooked up through the vcr and the stereo.

Go for an A/B switch.  Plug X-box to one input, VCR/cable to the other.  Output cable goes to the tv.  Be sure to get a switch with a remote control.  It's a pain to have to get up and switch between the two.
