So this is on SciFi tonight.  What a treat to see Olivia D'Abo--man what a tasty dish this chick is.  And what other flick teams the talents of Ahhnuld and Wilt the Stilt?

Some people like cupcakes better--I for one care less for them

Not to mention Grace Jones. "Conan the destroyer" is an insult to the masterfully crafted "Conan the barbarian", but it is quite an enjoyable B-movie. They don't make matte paintings or cartoon sets like those anymore!

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Didn't know if anyone else here knew it or not, but a new extension of the Conan is set to be filmed soon.

Ahnuld is like 60....doing another Conan.....well I guess that worse things have happened.

After all, Kangaroo Jack was made.

And the sequel to that is being made.

I want to kill myself now just thinking about it.  lol

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

I liked Conan the Destroyer!

I like the scene when Mako ( I think that's his name) faces off with the high wizard trying to keep the mouth of that cave closed.

I always wanted the 2 bracelets like the high wizard had to clink together.

Best part of the movie is when they kill that monster at the end.  Then the thief walks up and stabs it with his little dagger and it starts playing the Conan music, LOL.

Yup. In fact they originally planned to have her retrieve the horn in the nude, but changed their minds. :(

people consider the first conan a masterpeice? HA Conan is so wattered down and gentle in that movie it aint even funny

The only way to see Conan the way he is suppossed to be are by Robert. E. Howards books. Those are hard to find but worth it.

both movies be poop to me.

save the world, kill a politician or two.

I loathe this movie... i brought it with " In the Company of wolves" (a 2 for 1 deal) and even though it was marginally better than THAT, it still sucked hard! Uncannily, both of those movies suffered from the same major flaws:
*Horrendous effects (the wizard that turns into a rubber monster in the room of mirrors is just awfull, i mean, how could they even dare think they could pull off a scene with such poor makeup?)
*Both movies are BORING! A 'good' bad movie is at least entertaining! 'Conan' and 'Wolves' both had my finger howering over the FF button on the DVD numerous times.

Cheers

PS: looking forward to the Dead Heat DVD! I thought i was the only person on the planet who'd seen (much less liked) that movie!

Then shame on me! Because I have read some of Howard's Conan short stories and I still think the film is f*cking great. I'll admit that making Conan spent his youth pulling a water wheel was too much, though.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I've read the Howard original stories, as well as the L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter official stories and their rewrites of some non-Conan stories into Conan tales. Enjoyed them for the most part over the years, although the "Conan Of The Isles" De Camp and Carter novel, the last of the "original" tales really was quite bad.

I loved the first Conan movie, including the elements they borrowed or altered from the stories reminded me exactly of how I saw the Hyborian Age in my head. But "Destroyer" blew on so many levels, it can be a fine popcorn b-movie but it really wrecked the atmosphere created in the first film. Too light and playful to be a Conan film, especially with the team on a quest, like a bad attempt to co-opt the vibe of D&D rather than the Howard stories.

If John Milius is still supposed to be coming up with the story for "King Conan" I have hope for it. Arnold is the right age to be playing Conan during his reign in Aquilonia. I wish they would adapt the story where he crosses the continent to Khitai to get his wife back, for the film. That one could really work as a movie.

Now if someone would just make a serious minded Solomon Kane film, not another jokey turd like "Kull The Conqueror". That Kevin Sorbo piece of crap.

I'm with you, yaddo42.

CONAN THE BARBARIAN is as close as we're ever going to get to Howard's original character on screen.  I've read many of the Conan stories too, and it's a fairly accurate portrayal.

DESTROYER is pretty bad, but if you gotta have it, go for the new International release that features a much better transfer than the R1 release and also features a new 5.1 Dolby Surround track (for those who are multi-region capable anyway).

Did anyone notice when conan flips Grace Jones over that she is not wearing any underwear? You get a quick flash of her vagina!

And that is why dvds and dvd players were invented, so you could pause on the good parts and take in the wonders of nature!
