Almost forgot to tell everyone about Trucker Night. We had it last weekend, and it was a hit. The truckers, and a couple of lot lizards, enjoyed a wholesome meal of barbecued ribs and cornbread, with beef jerky and pepperettes for appetizers. Mmmm, cholesterol. We had tall cans of Bud, and some chips, in case cornbread wasn't enough of a vegetable. Lori printed out a few pages of CB lingo she downloaded, and we all did our best to use it. Dinner was followed by a double feature of Breaker Breaker and Smokey and the Bandit. Great fun, and something we'll have to do again, with a different theme.

Here's a picture of me and the missus, as our trucker alter-egos Marg and Bubba. As you can see, I went all out, with mutton chops and mustache. My hat, liberated from my dad's collection of old mesh hats, is from Hogg Fuel and Supply.

It sounds great, Ive been planning with my friends to do something similar... We've been debating what kinds of foods you should have for a Monty Python night because a couple of people I know have never seen Life of Brian or the Holy Grail.

Fry: "Im having one of those things. You know, a headache, with pictures!"

Sounds like you guys had a blast!
My uncle Jim would've loved that.
He would've arrived with his pants half hanging off him, ass crack showing like a plumber.  Seriously, that's how he looks all the time.
He's been a trucker for almost 25 years now.
And he's from Arkansas!
Hehe!

By the way, what's a lot lizard and what are pepperettes?

A lot lizard is basically a truck stop hooker. My sister-in-law and her best friend opted for this costume idea.

Pepperettes are miniature pepperoni sausages. It's a brand name that has come to be applied to the product in general, at least in parts of Canada.

I'm hoping you left the "whites" off the menu. Maybe you could have have a little trucker music playing, lots of Red Sovine tunes, or Little Feat or the Byrds playing "Willin'". Or if it was late enough, you could of tried picking up "The Road Gang" on AM radio.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention we did have country tunes. I made up an mp3 playlist of Conway Twitty, George Jones, Jerry Reed (of course), Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Statler Borthers, Stompin' Tom Connors and some stuff from the early 90s. Should also mention that we had fun with The Rodeo Song, an oldie but a goodie. "It's forty below and I don't give a f--k, got a heater in my truck, an' I'm off to the rodeo...." Classic.
