I read in an interview that he likes playing christ-like redeeming characters and this can definitely be seen in his newer role choices.

I don't think he's trying to burn away his old persona, but is instead going all 'Zen-like' in his role choices [or at least the last few major ones]

Despite it all, I actually really like Keanu's work, and although this character seems to be the same type as Neo [from what i've seen on the trailers anyway] I don't see him acting differently. [but then again, you can say the exact same thing about Tom Cruise!]

I am looking foward to this one, I love the whole heaven/hell motif.

Though I haven't read Hellblazer, if people are looking for other comics/graphic novels along a similar theme of heaven/hell etc, try Preacher.  It's about a preacher who has merged with a cross breed of Demon and Angel, and he is in search of God, who quit when the cross breed was born, for answers.  I've only read a bit of it, but so far it's pretty damn interesting.

Yes, Keanu's character is very Christ Like. No this is not at all like the Matrix. It is more like the Exorcist meets action adventure. There are not even any scenes with Matrix like acting, and Keanu does almost all his own stunts.

I really enjoyed the "Preacher" comics- although there are times when the side stories drag on too long. You sometimes have to be patient with the material. But once you get to the end you'll realize it was well worth the wait.

Lu, for Lucifer. And it's based on a DC comic, not a video game...
