Monster Fan

Hello Freaks and lovers of the mystical arts of horror films.  I am Monsterfan and I'm addicted to horror.  I love things that are intended to be frightening or scary.  I am writing because I want to hear views of the people who love the monsters and madmen as I do.  I also would like to answer any questions that you may have about horror films from the classics to the moderns.  I am a horror historian and really appreciate a good scream, no pun intended.  OK, well there may have been a pun intended. Ha,ha,ha...  But seriously, Horror, gore, thriller, freak show, I love them all.  Speaking of FREAKS, the classic 1932 Tod Browning film just came out on DVD around the 16th or 17th of August, I would totally suggest this to anyone that loves a good movie, go out and get it, rent or buy, you won't be disappointed.  Well, it's time to go now, keep enjoying the phorum.  I will answer all replies, Horror is King.  Oh yea, has anyone checked out Bubba Hotep?  Bruce Cambell is a laugh riot...

Post Script:  House of 1000 Corpses 2, London After Midnight (Lon Chaney), Halloween, Last House on the Left, The Exorcist, Lugosi, Karloff, Chaney Jr., Max Schrek, Nosferatu, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Ed Gein, Ted Bundy, Jeff Dauhmer, Rob Zombie, Buckethead, Misfits, Universal Movie Monsters.......

I've been watching that page closely for what seems like forever. I can't wait to see it.

Is Nosferatu famous for the scene with the creepy figure(shadow) walking up the stairs.

I already gave you a post on the House of 1000 Corpses 2 thread monsterfan, but I figured I'd give you some support here too.  I started the Devils rejects thread, and I started a thread on Last House on the Left a while ago, but it's gone away.  The more monster fans like Monsterfan that we get around here the better!
BTW, I noticed you havn't said anything about zombie (not Rob, just zombie) movies...how do you feel about them?  I love a good zombie movie!
and also, the misfits rock hard enough to wake grandma from her grave!

Buy it from Deep Discount DVD.  It's $3.00 cheaper than Amazon and they will ship it free.

they shipped mine damaged at no charge

I'd say that I've bought about 500 DVDs (maybe more) from Deep Discount and I've only had to return about 3 of them.  And all of those were because of factory defects.  I think that's a pretty damned good track record.

Guess it's a shame my first experience i had to wait a month to get it and then a month to get the replacement, while dealing with a teenager on the phone. I guess if i have a bad experience once i'm not likely to try again regardless of recommendation.  I'm just bitter about the whole experience. But now they have these new chain dvd trading stores popping up around me and their prices can't be beat.

500 dvds? What the crap..lol
You should seriously consider starting your own inhouse rental business :) If you had some friends and family who liked movies you could just charge them a buck or two which might make them rent more often from you since blockbuster is a ripoff, and you could make a little cash

Sorry you had such a bad experience.  Deep Discount is my favorite source of DVDs.  I have about 1,200 total now, and I can say that Deep Discount has better prices and service than anyone online and better prices than stores about 90% of the time.  Whenever I order from them, I get the movie in a week or less.  The only time I need to wait is when the movie hasn't been relesed yet or when it's out of stock (which is very rare).

Yes, Nosferatu was a 1922 German silent film directed by F.W. Murnau, it was actually meant to be Dracula, but Bram Stoker's estate, possibly wife, would not let them use the name.  Then Universal aquired the rights and put Bela Lugosi in the 1931 version, which is probably the most famous movie of all time.  Werner Herzog, the famous German director remade the movie in 1977 with both an English and a German version available, it's definately worth checking out.  There is also a movie called Shadow of the Vampire, based on the original making of the film that came out a couple of years ago starring Wilhem Dafoe and John Malkovich...                                      Peaceful Nightmares, Monsterfan.........

I LOVE ZOMBIE FILMS!!!!!  Romero is one of my heroes.  All the way back to Lugosi's White Zombie in 1932.  I am also a seriosly devoted musician, and I wrote this song a couple of years ago that goes, "Bob Marley went to Haiti, goin' to make himself some Zombies, ohhh"  you have to put that beautiful Jamacian swing with it, but you get the picture.

Wow, 1200 DVDs, that's impressive, I've only got avout 600 plus, but I'm Old School and have a mammoth 2200 to 2400 VHS, not recorded, but bought.  Are yours mostly horror, or a little bit of everything?

Harry

I too am a devoted musician...my favorite horror inspired song is intitled "Firefly" and is, of course, about the Firefly family from House of 1000 Corpses.  It's filled with otis quotes, one verse "Humans, we run like rabbits, time chases us like a beast, we run, we hide, we never escape.  These bodies, they are mortal, but this blood is forever!"  It is of course metal, and I'm working on getting a new band together called "Dr. Satan."
Zombie said that he wants someone to start a deathmetal band called Dr. Satan, so I'm sure ours wouldn't be the only one, and ours isn't quite "death metal," more old school metal, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourn, White Zombie, Megadeath etc...

Amazon isn't the most accurate source of information regarding release dates.

Back when the first series of Hellraiser figures came out, I was having trouble finding the ones I wanted in any local stores so I went to Amazon. They had them listed as not yet released, despite the fact that they had been out for at least a month. In fact when I emailed the company I was told that they had already shipped their entire stock and wouldn't be producing any more. Amazon did eventually get them in, about a month later, but by then I'd found them at a local store.
