horror boxsets

hey everyone. I was thinking of getting some horror movie boxsets. I wanted to know if anyone can recommend any good or bad sets. thanks.

if u have ever been to the store fye, they sell a ton of boxsets. I even  found a pee -wees playhouse boxset that had like 93 or so episodes.hahaha

It's not a box set, but the AMC cult classics collection has some good stuff on it. My ma got me 2 of them dirt cheap. It had Dementia 13, the Brain that wouldnt die, the original Carnival of Souls, Jesse James meets Frankensteins Daughter, The Screeming Skull, and a couple other old gems on it.

The "Blood Island Vacation" box set is one of my favorites.

Then there's the "Sleepaway Camp" set.  I don't know if you can still find the original set with the Red Cross logo that got Anchor Bay sued, but the material on the discs is all the same, and it's a great set.

An Ed Wood box was released within the last few months, which has all his most famous movies, "Plan 9," "Bride of the Monster," etc.

The 3-disc "Ilsa" box set is worth picking up if'n you like campy exploitation, which I do, and highly recommend this set, although the third movie is pretty boring.

The 4-disc "Ultimate Dawn of the Dead" rocks.

And last, but definitely not least, the "Alien Quadrilogy," which is the absolute Bible of all DVD box sets.

It's not a horror set, but if you want a box set of some great monster movies, get the 90's Gamera trilogy.

thanks brother ragnarok. I forgot about sleep away camp and I just ordred that along with the first alien movie. I already had aliens on dvd so I didnt want to buy the set.

Universal. I don't think there is anything better then those old black-and-white horrors from Universal. I think there are five or six boxsets, each featuring a different Universal monster. So you can get, I believe, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, the Invisible Man, the Mummy, and the Wolfman.

Yep...most of them have at least 3 movies on them, some have four or five.  I have the Frankenstein and the Creature from the Black Lagoon sets.  They look great and have lots of extras too....hard to do better for $20.

If I were you, I would get the 50 Horror Classics Gift set with 50 films in it.

Personally, I like the twenty movie set Brentwood put out under the collection name 'Nightmares from the Crypt' which simply combined two of their 10 movie sets into one compact case. Although the 50 Horror Classics set is a great deal to put together a collection of older classics without having to hunt them down; and 3 or 4 classics could cost as much as the whole set.

By the way, the print of 'The Devil's Nightmare' in the Brentwood set is the Redemption print. So it is widescreen and includes the intro by the countess (which of course has nothing to do with the movie).

Yes, the Universal Monsters boxed sets are fantastic if you like the old monster movies. And they are very reasonably priced as well.
