Steven Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing) has been tapped to write, produce, and direct a remake of the George Pal produced 1951 classic.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

I don't think I'd mind all these remakes so much if they wouldn't always get handed to people who have made movies that disappointed me.

Heres an idea.....
Just do new CGI FX for the old film, and insert them where needed. THAT would bea new thought, and it would save money.
Unless the Actors Union gets snitty about paying the surviving actors from the first film...

The original could use a little help with CG at the end. When they land on the new world that was the most obvious matte paintings I've  ever seen. It looked something someone did in a beginners art class.

Why? Of course, as  have arleady remade "The Time Machine" and :"War of the  Worlds," they probably don't see any reason not to remake "When Worlds Collide."

As for the original, there was suppose to be a sequel dealing with what happened, when they arrived on the new planet. I can't remember why the sequel was never made.
