New Line TV and Marvel along with David Goyer (writer of all 3 Blade movies and director of #3) are developing the series for Spike to debut sometime in 2006.

This could be good, I like the two Blade films I've seen (haven't seen # 3). But it could also be terrible, have to wait and see.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 Blade movies and anxiously awaited the 3rd. When I saw it, I was left somewhat disappointed as the movie was weak and it's only saving grace was Jessica Biel in skimpy clothing. I can't picture a series being too good but you never know.

You're not the Devil...You're practice.

Diablo44.

I thought the first Blade had potential that wasn't fully realized, while "Blade 2" was given too many resources for such a weak script. Haven't seen the third one yet, but it looks like they'd run out of ideas quickly. And I've had about all I can stand of "Super Wesley", so I can't imagine a series with him would be any good. Even if they get a new actor for the role, the unchanging enemy (vampires) would make for a boring (not to mention, done before) concept. Just my opinion tho. . .

I don't think Wesley will step from movie star to actor on a basic cable show.  I haven't seen the third one yet, the first two were enjoyable as popcorn movies, I hope the series will be as well.  Maybe they should do arcs, and not a "kill all the vampires in an hour, but then they pop up again next week" series.

Diablo44.

What I'm saying is, I'm sick of "Wesley Snipes - Action Hero", so someone imitating him would be even less enjoyable. But I agree with the "story arc" idea. Make it an ongoing thing instead of disposing of one vampire after another each week.

Sounds interesting.  When I saw the original Blade my mind was blown, to be topped only by The Matrix when I saw it in the cinema.  I was disappointed by the second Blade at first, as I was expecting more of the same dark, brooding atmosphere of the first, but after a few more viewings I love it.  I'm hoping that the same will be said of Blade Trinity.  I saw it in the cinema and thought it was 'okay'.  It didn't help that we immediately went to see Kung Fu Hustle, which blew away Blade Trinity.

But a TV show?  That might be tough.  Given the extreme nature of the movies, the big budget and effects, as well as the martial proficiency of the (main) actor and excellence of action scenes, it might not be that easy.  Or maybe they'll  take it it very different directions, like the difference between Stargate and Stargate SG1, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Buffy on television.

What direction do you think a Blade TV series might take?

Snipes will not be in this new show.
Right now he's in the middle of a lawsuit against the producers of Blade Trinity.
He claims they still owe him like 2 or 3 million dollars.

Snipes IS Blade.  I can't think of any other actor who could successfully pull off that role like Snipes did.
They're going to have to be very careful when casting that part for the show.

I'll give the new show a look but I seriously have my doubts if Snipes isn't going to star in it.

I haven't seen Trinity, but I know that one of Wesley's problems was the way it was written.  He feels too much emphasis was put on the Jessica Beil and Ryan Reynolds characters.  He thinks they are going to dump him and start up a franchise using the other two characters.

I also heard he didn't get along too good with David Goyer as the director.

Here's a 'review' I farted-out on another site:
"Blade:Trinity"(`04) with bourbon and coke and fried shark and onion-rings. First off, I should note that bourbon doesn't work with fish AT ALL. However, I was surprised at how well shark fried up, and I love onion rings! So, good meal, dumb movie(thus the bourbon).
Oh yeah, the movie. Blade the vampire-hunter(I wasn't aware that Gene Colan had created this character!) and Kris Kristopherson(it's amazing the career this guy has had considering he can't act his way outta a basket) are still whupping-up on the blood-drinkers, but this time they're being actively sought by the FBI for killing a human. This one also introduces the 'Nightstalkers' or 'Nighthunters' or some s**t. It's a group of humans(well, one's a former vampire[?]) who are also killing-off the undead. One happens to be the sexy Jessica Biel, fresh off of her stint in the chainsaw massacre running around screaming and looking hot in cut-offs. She doesn't do any screaming in this, and does a believable job of being a bad-ass vampire bow-hunter.
And, there's Drake, aka Dracula. Yep, Blade takes on the original king of the blood-drinkers. There's also a vampire pomeranean  . Triple H is a vampire who gets beat down by a little annoying joker, and there's Asian kung-fu vampires(who don't hop, unfortunately) who get their chops sockyed by little Jessica. They even found a bit part for the great James Remar.
Still, as great(or horrible) as all this might sound, it was just sheer, comic-bookie fluff. Cheap bourbon helps it go down alittle easier.
