Fans of the Howard Stern show know artie as Howards sidekick.  His current drinking and past drug exploits are legendary.   This DVD has three parts

1. His live act which is sort of like the banter of a punk band for 45 minutes.  Dice Clay meets, well Howard Stern.  his (extreme) lack of timidity is refreshing compared to your typical comedy central guys.  He's no Jerry Seinfeld but much like his beloved AC/ DC he has an entertaining thing he does and he does it with a lot of energy

2.  backstage / coming ot the gig/ interviews etc-  this actually better than the live set in a way.  Artie is a nice guy and it's fun to see him wolfing down hot dogs at his local new jersey hangout.  It appears he's a real big star in Jersey and he certainly fits in there.  No big city pretensions at all.

3.  Softball-  this is a short artie and some friends did.  It stinks.

So that's that.  very strong language

Artie is a funny guy. I was disappointed when Jackie left "The Howard Stern Show", at first, but realized it was the best thing to happen to the show- having all that new talent flow through it. Ultimately, Stern choosing Artie to be a permenant replacement was a great idea. Artie had some outrageous stories to tell about his miserable past.

I've considered buying myself a copy of Artie's DVD, but I've never been able to bring myself to do it- on account of how much I loathe Stern now.

I used to listen to Stern. I was a huge fan for 10 years. But I tuned out early this year when Stern became a total wimp, allowing everyone and their mother to edit the hell out of his show.

You might say the edits were beyond his control, but he always had a way out. For example, he could've simply walked out (take a financial hit when Infinity sued him, sure, but he's getting a GIGANTIC paycheck from satellite radio. That would've paid the legal bills and then some). Or he could've just shut up and played music during his time slot (which he threatened to do numerous times but inevitably never did).

The show is completely unlistenable now, sounding more like a skipping record than entertainment. He seems like a push-over to me now, having turned soft in his golden years. He's not the man he used to be. I hope he enjoys his uncensored time on Satellite radio- but I'll pass on listening to it.

I remember when Artie was on the early days of Mad Tv. I don't want to highjack the thread but I listened to Stern a couple of times and liked him. I will not pay to hear him on satellite though. I know zero people with it too.

I see what you're saying, but I think the satellite show is going to be more like the old shows.

Oh know doubt about it but will I pay to hear him? No. I am just a casual fan anyway.

rich-  I was actually refering to Nobody's post.  yours hadn't come up yet must have posted at around same time.   Yes, Stern isn't everyon's favorite.  My appreciation for him is based alot on the fact that his is the only non-political talk show as far as I know.  You can drive yourself crazy with the air america nad rush limbuagh arguing and so forth.  I mean you'd think the world was going to end when they go on and on.

As far as Mad TV, when artie did that he was at the height of addiction to cocaine and doesn't remember some of the skits.  Probably his funniest story ever was he was doing a skit about the pig "babe" on the beach called "babewatch".  typical retarded MadTV  flimsy idea to base a sketch on.  He was in make up for like 3 hours and got antsy so he called up his deal and carved a hole in the pig snout to snort coke as he drove arounf los angeles.  He looked at himself in the mirror snorting coke looking for all the world like a pig snorting coke.  It goes on

Didn't know anything about this....very interesting. Artie is very funny, and was actually kind of shocked when I found out he was on Stern, and it's a great addition. Personally, I can't get into the Stern show most of the time; I don't know why. Althougth, I did read Robin's book several years ago, and it's really great.

yeah robins book is actually pretty hard to find for some reason.  I enjoyed it a great deal.  She is a strong person and her biography is very unpretentious and unique.

At the risk of reaaaaalllllly hijacking the thread, I couldn't handle Howard's show, but not because of his crude humor.  Unfortunately the language to describe my problem with Howard's show is too piled up in other meanings, but the short and sweet crude version of it is that he seems to hate women, and I have a problem with that.

Which one is Jackie?  What sorts of stories does she have to tell?

Do you think he hates his co-host Robin Quivers? HIs three daughters?  His persona is no different than a typical stand up comic.
