Actor Brock Peters has died from pancreatic cancer and the age of 78.

Movie fans mostly remember him for his role as the wrongly accused rapist Tom Robinson in " To Kill A Mockingbird". He had many other roles. People on this board should remember him from "Soylent Green" and "Alligator II: The Mutation".

True to my screen name I remember him fondly from Star Trek IV as Adm. Cartwright who later turned traitorous in Star Trek VI.  He also played Joseph Sisko, the father of Avery Brooks character Benjamin Sisko on ST:DS9.

Another classic actor gone from the world.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Indeed.
I'd kill to have pipes like his.
One of the great acting voices has been stilled, as well.

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Peters performed in so many different genres during his career - dramas, action/adventure, sci-fi, westerns, soap operas, miniseries, radio plays, voice overs for animated shows and video games, and the theater. I can't believe he's gone. Whenever I watched him in a movie or on tv I knew I was in for a treat.
