OT: Mr. Moog has died

The man who has done more for space age sounds since the invention of the theremin is no more. A minute of silence, please.

I intended on making a post related to Robert Moog's death earlier, but have been away. Before any one else could see the future of electronic music, Moog (rhymes with vogue) was already perfecting it. His Moog synthesizer was such a widely used instrument, it's hard to think of a band that hasn't used one: Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, The Monkees, even Stevie Wonder all used the Moog synthesizer. If you've even used a pitch wheel on a keyboard, you're using a Moog invention. His company, Big Briar based out of Asheville, NC, still leads the market for theremin production. Most recently I went to see Victor Wooten perform in both New Orleans, LA and Carrboro, NC and keyboardist Joseph Wooten used a Moog theremin during both shows. His work is so deeply embedded in electronic music, I'd venture to call him the outright father of it. Without Moog's ability to incorporate radio waves with sound waves and place them at people's fingertips, we would be decades behind in electronic music technology than where we are today.
