This movie was awesome.  It's Kirk Cameron, who ruined growing pains by becoming born again.  It's based on a huge best seller series called left behind, which is kind of like the christian version of islam and the 72 virgins in paradise or whatever. They beleive the good people go to heaven and the bad people don't which is pretty uncool if you have two christian pilots on a plane for example.

The acting was pretty bad in some parts but the plot was a home run.  it's based on some part of the bible I've never read that is sort of nostradamus-ey.  like "the anti christ will come back on the tenth day and do 7 things" or whatever.  But it plays sort of like a twilight zone episode more than anything else.  I caught it on a christian channel and there were no ads, which was a bonus.  Hopefully there is a sequal (s) because the ending was kind of abrupt.

It's based on the Rapture, which interestingly enough is not mentioned in the Bible.  Or so I've heard.

any movie that has a satan or the anti christ in it will probably be good.

This book series is extremely popular with evangelicals. There is a sequel or two to the movie, but they are straight to video; I've seen them at Wal-Mart for $5.50 apiece. Despite my strong religious beliefs, I've never read any of these, though I did start writing a novel once based on the rapture idea back in the '80s; I got all of twenty pages into it before I gave up.

Oh, and raj, while the Rapture is never called by that name in Revelations, it is an implied event, although interpretations vary widely as to when it occurs.

"They tap dance not, neither do they fart." --Greensleeves, on the Fig Men of the Imagination, in "Twice Upon a Time."

Fearless Freep

I'm a born-again Christian and I read a few chapters from one of the books but it seemed to be written with a fairly juvenile writing style and I didn't care for it.

(Contains spoilers)

Saw it on TV late at night. It has an interesting starting point, but the preaching script and the zero budget make it quite dull. the end, though, with the leader of the UN (a Russian, to make it worse) becoming the Antichrist is nothing short of histerycal.

There are two sequels, both direct-to-video, as this one as well, haven't seem them. Looks like Kirk Cameron has restricted his present career to these movies, unless you count being the virtual guide on this sect's webpage. A pity I can't remember the URL...

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I stand by it, as a bad movie fan
