I've seen the trailer for the new movie and I'm not impressed to tell you the truth. It isn't anything like the original classic movie or it's  decent 1970's sequel. Those were a riot--especially the original. one of the best Disney films ever made IMHO. I know remakes don't usually follow the original very closely but Disney did such a good job remaking Parent Trap and keeping it true to the original that I wonder why the same couldn't be done here. Don't get me wrong--Tim Allen is perfect to play this kind of role, but I wish they woulda gone with the whole teenager thing.

The worst things about the newer version is that

1. He gets his power by getting bit by a shaggy dog his family adopts. No ring with a curse but merely getting bit by a dog.

2. It's not even the right breed of DOG!

3. They turned it from an entertaining comedy farce and into a "workaholic dad gets to know his family" piece of crap--Why do they insist that every movie needs to have a moral mmessage about family or whatever? It used to be movies were just about fun--now it seems like every movie has to have some stupid "the more you care" message like the freakin' ad's that pollute NBC....
God, why did some moron decide to ruin the Dukes Of Hazard with Jessica Simspon as Daisy? Yeaaaaauuurrrgggghhh--the HORROR!

Because if they don't include such a message, artsy types and critics like Gene Siskel would complain that it has no social importance?

Professor Hathaway:  I noticed you stopped stuttering.
Bodie:      I've been giving myself shock treatments.
Professor Hathaway: Up the voltage.

good thing Siskel isn't here anymore......too bad the others are. Although Naploean Dynamite had no message(or at least not one that I saw--but then I found it boring and unfunny anyway) and that was a smash hit with just about every critic alive....
