I refuse to see the new one, out of respect for the old one.  If you are a Michael Caine fan, I recommend 'The Wrong Box' as well.....

I've seen both versions, but i prefer the new one over the last one. Sacrilege, I know, I just find it's better paced. The only thing I missed of the original is that it has a hell of an ending, whereas the remake is more conventional.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

The original is always better than the remake. Well, that is not totally true, but it is probably true most of the time.

But the original "Italian Job" the film is actually ABOUT  the job, the remake is about getting revenge after a doublecross on the "Italian Job" at the beginning and uses the new Mini Coopers racing through pipes to evoke the original just a little.

I'll take the original since it's just a perfect light fun caper flick. Brit vs. The Continent humor, music that treads the line of being completely corny, Noel Coward stealing every scene he's in, a true cliffhanger ending, Benny Hill being relatively restrained. I know the film is quaint as can be but that's what I like about it.
