No,not the bizzare 60's flick.I bought a box of JUJU's last night, and watched ASTRO ZOMBIES with my kids.We had a big bowl of popcorn as well.Movies and candy.Double features.JuJu's are my favorite movie candy.Kinda takes me back....
Bubs Daddy Gum-big2foot gum sticks...in a whole messa flavors. When I was a kid I used to stick as much in my mouth as I could, and Pschodelic drool would drip down my face.
Monster stickers-Pictures from old monster movies with goofy captians.
and of course CRACKER JACK! "Carmel coated popcorn-peanuts and a prize-thats what you get in Cracker Jacks!"
Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)

Now the prizes are really crappy....

Yup, Cracker Jacks were always a big one for me.
However, even though I hated licorice, I always somehow ended up asking for a box of Good n' Plentys, and of course, being a little kid, I believed that the red ones tasted better than the white ones.
Then there were Malt Balls. I actually wanted Milk Duds or Junior Mints, but since I hadn't yet learned how to read, I always said Malt Balls. Of course, I would always be little disappointed when I would put one in my mouth & found out it was a crunchy candy instead of a chewy one. Still, being candy, particularly one with chocolate, I quickly got over this. (I was vaguely reminded of this just the other night when my folks took me out to eat, & I ordered the wrong sandwich.)

And then there were a few candies that, well, made me angry... Well, maybe not so much the candy it'self, as much as the false advertising. $100,000 Bars were always a disappointment, because I could never make one of those long strings of caramel between my hand & my mouth like they did in the commercials.
The ones that really got under my skin were the ones that claimed that they lasted a long time, such as the ads for Bit O' Honey or that one (I think it was called a Miles Bar) that had a ruler on the back of the wrapper. When it comes to the perspective of a little kid regarding candy, once it's all gone, some degree disappointment is inevitable, but if the ads imply that it lasts a long time, you not only feel cheated, but betrayed.

Still, there's always more candy.
Another one of my favorites was always those red licorice ropes. In retrospect, it's kinda' disturbing just how functionally amusing red licorice rope could be, especially after I learned how to tie my shoelaces.

I think you're referring to Whoppers.

You're talking about the Marathon Bar

At my parent's house in one of the many photo albums they keep, is a Polaroid of me when I was 6 or 7 years old eating a Marathon bar.
I always remembered them as being pretty tasty.

And at least I'm not the only one who hates licorice....YUCK!

I'm a snow caps and popcorn kind of gal.  A moderate mouthful of snow caps to get them melty and a wad of popcorn to give it that salty edge.  Oh the gluttony!

LilCerberus

Golly gee whiz! You'd think at this point in my life that it would've occurred to me that their called Whoppers. This is even more embarrassing than my recent Monte Christo sandwich flub.

Thanks for clearing that up ASH, & yeah I meant Marathon Bars.

AT the movies - Junior Mints and Popcorn mixed together, with a giant Cherry Coke.

It's neat to go look at and just remember.  Some of the stuff I've never heard of, but my mom was really familiar with.  She was born in 1939.  I was going to get her a gift box of 1940's mix, but didn't get around to it in time.

Swedish Fish were big in my house, but I hate them.   Maybe if you put chocolate on them...hmmm.

Thrills gum.  Purple and tasted like soap.

Something I've noticed is that all the 'nostalgia' candy is making a big comeback and it's all made by Wonka.....
