I did not know they were doing this - selling off a number of VHS movies for really cheap.

"Beastmaster 2" is just plain terrible and not in a way that is entirely fun to watch.  If memory serves, they spend some time running around back streets in LA.  I also remember, I believe, a car driving through the time/space portal and ending up on the fantasy side.  Might have to pull this one off the shelf for another look, just to brush up on it.  Truly, a legend of bad movies.

Welcome to the board.

Haha , havent watched that one yet. Thanks for the welcome the site rules wish i found it sooner. Yeah it was one dollar and was either beastmaster or the mask part 2 so it wasn't a hard decision.

Alligator 2 isn't as much fun as the first one, but it gets the job done. Plus it has b-movie staples Richard Lynch and Steve Railsback; as well as double sitcom wacky neighbor ("I Dream of Jeanie, The Bob Newhart Show) Bill Daly as a minor baddie.

Might have to cruise by my old local Hollywood at these prices. I picked up some VHS tapes at a local grocery store not to long ago, that turned out to be stock from Hollywood, picked up a Shaw Bros. movie and a Fellini film.
blah blah stuff blah blah obscure pop culture reference blah blah clever turn of phrase blah blah bad pun blah blah bad link blah blah zzzz.....

I did this a while ago.  Can't remember every movie I got, but a few...

Day of the Beast (entertaining, too bad it was dubbed)
Two Evil Eyes
Valentine's Day
My Bloody Valentine (which I was disappointed with, considering what I'd heard)
Some quasi werewolf movie.  Blood Moon or something.

Um.  That's all I can remember.  Yeah, I forgot the other 6.  They're in a stack in my basement.

Jim,

Pretty good list there.

Have you watched Two Evil Eyes yet?  It's a bit of a disappointment.  Romero's segment falls flat for the most part.  Argento's portion is much more graphic and is a bit better.

Sad to hear that you didn't care for My Bloody Valentine.  In my opinion, it's one of the better slashers to come out of the 80s.  You must consider that the film was heavily cut and almost every kill in the film was butchered by the MPAA.  Despite that, it still holds up well in my opinion.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

My Bloody Valentine was worth the $1, and I was entertained.  I just didn't think it was too great.  It was fairly gory though.  You could really tell it had been cut in a few scenes, especially the decapitation towards the end.

Haven't gotten to Two Evil Eyes yet, but I will pretty soon.  It's gotten harder since my main VHS player just broke, and the other one is in a room which is often in use by other members of the household.

Kraa is an odd little movie, it may actually be good for the young ones wich is a surprise from a subsidiary of Full Moon Pictures

Dolls is a good one, one of Stuart Gordon's lesser known films. Don't expect it to be anything like the Re-Animator but it gets pretty bloody / funny in parts. I f I remember correctly it has a few genuinely scary moments

Alligator 2 is so-so, the parts with the Alligator are somewhat action-packed, but the script and acting are IMO below average (seeming as it's not one of those movies that "doesn't take itself seriously"). From what I've heard about Alligator 1 (which is actually pretty good for a film about an Alligator!) it doesn't have a leg up. Watch for the sewer scene! I've never actually seen a sewer before but the secenery is preety dang cool!

Robocop 2 and 3, well you've probably heard about those already so...

Critters 3 Not that good until the critters attack, from then on it just decent. The strong point of the movie is the quirky characters. This movie surprisingly enough actually leads directly into C4. Watch for "Mr. Briggs" (William Dennis Hunt!) getting chewed by the Crites! Leo Di Caprio's first feature film

Picking up a stack of movies can take a while to sort through.  My system for this was to put them on a shelf together, my "You need to watch me." shelf.  Then, I always know where to look for something new.

Especially useful years ago, when I happened across a couple of rental places going out of business and selling all their old tapes and laserdiscs.  I would literally come home with a box of a hundred movies.
