PRISONERS OF THE LOST UNIVERSE (1984) This is a bad movie starring Richard Hatch of BATTLE STAR GALACTICA fame and John Saxon who must have felt like he was in a lost universe taking this role. Actually I thought Saxon was going to breakout and start doing some Shakespearian lines. It all starts out in L.A. and while a TV Show hostess arrives at a scientist home to do a segment an earthquake hits and three people manage to some how fall into the beams of a transporter and are taken to a rather primitive place where John Saxon rules. They run into a few strange human types like a water monster, some kind of very bright red eyed tribe, a muscular bald dude who explodes, and a giant neandrathal type. They explosive escape at the end is suppose to "wow" us.

  (3 out of 10 Stars) Not sure why they made this film.

Photo of the water monster which is best scene in the film.

Here's a closer look at this movie on Andrew's review page.

I voted "no", but think 3rd and 4th categories are needed --
Re.  "Did you find this a very bad film that you would still suggest others see?"
or something like that --
I got a 20-pack of Public Domain "Strange Movies", and this is one of them --
A bunch of us watched it together & it had enough weirdness in it to keep us laughing -- Yes, vultures can talk like parrots!!  Who knew?!?!
I think they blew some chances at real comedy and action, but I did like some of the peripheral characters -- the British actor playing the thief sidekick was the best actor in the film.
As far as laugh-out-loud moments go, though, the film ain't no "Starcrash", which we watched on the same day, so this one got overshadowed a bit.

I have no idea what this means.

Flange, my friend, you are getting old.  Check the link that Scott posted right under the picture.

Maybe the universe was not so much lost as not used.  More like "Prisoners of the Unfrequented Universe."
