I had read about him working on his PhD a while back.

You know the actor Avery Brooks (Hawk on Spencer for Hire in the 80's and Captain Sisko on DS9) is a tenured professor of fine arts at Rutgers.

Know of any other educated actors?

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

I really enjoyed the Engineering an Empire series, though I though Buckaroo, er, Peter was under used.

Jodie Foster did graduate from Yale & Brooke Shields from Princeton, so I'd put them a notch above the typical Hollywood actor.

Pilgermann

Weller is a jazz trumpet player, too.

Doesn't Jill St. John have an IQ of like 180? (doesn't quite fit her character in DAF, Eh?)

For the latest on the fifth installment in Don Coscarelli's Phantasm saga.

I had seen him on the Rome: Engineering an Empire show on the History Channel. Haven't seen the series, no cable, and wasn't aware of his continued involvement. Guess he has a good presence on camera as an experienced performer as well as the academic credentials now. Glad to know he's still acting as well, the last thing I remember him in was as the captain in that TV remake of The Posiedon Adventure.

Knew about his jazz horn playing, he and Jeff Goldblum were in a combo together.

Other higher educated perfomers, off the top of of my head: Billy Connolly's wife Pamela Stephenson has a doctorate in clincial psychology, is an adjunct professor at the California Graduate Institute where she got her docorate from, and is also in private practice.
