Yet another 80's movie...

Hey,

Everyone here has been great with help and this movie just popped into my head.

All I can remember is that there are two friends, one a nerd the other a socialite?, maybe?
The nerdy guy figured out how to make his brain stronger and smarter.  He could move things.
His friend finds out about this and starts to make his brain stronger.  The only thing is that he gets evil and I believe that his brain gets real big and gets out of his body.

After a battle of the minds, the nerdy guy wins and either turns on or off the record player with his mind.

Any guesses?????

The plot makes me think that this is a movie (or episode of a series) that was loosely based on "The Power."  It is not familiar to me.  I will check and see if I can dig up anything via the IMDB.
