According to Fox, a 2-Disc "Definitive Edition" DVD of Commando will be released in the United Kingdom on May 28, 2007. It is not clear right now what features will be offered on the additional disc, and we have received no word from associates of Vernon Wells regarding his involvement in the project. There is also no word on whether fans in the United States or other countries will be able to obtain this in their respective regions. If you live in the United Kingdom or possess a region-free DVD player, this purchase should be a no-brainer. Hopefully, we'll get more details as the release date approaches. For more information, albeit scant, go here.

Fox has a history of releasing stuff in Europe up to a year before it comes out here in the states, but I'm hoping that this one doesn't take too long to come out here.

  Thanks for this, Torgo.

SA falls under Region 2 so hopefully we will get this soon ~ also I hope the version we get is not the censored one that has been circulating here on VHS and DVD: our Commando is minus four minutes, as far as I know.

I bought the current region 2 version a while back for a fiver but ended up chucking it due to the cuts.

Why does Fox do that?  I find it pretty frustrating.  I remember when the UK got the Terminator special edition WAY before we did..  I ended up waiting.  I've got a PAL/NTSC region free player, but I still much prefer to have it region 1 if I can...

Wow, I didn't know that your DVD of Commando was cut so bad.  That's almost as bad as the version they show regularly on AMC!

I'm hoping that they restore the few seconds that were taken out of the infamous "tool shed scene" in order to get a R rating.  They made them quick cut some stuff like when the guy is scalped by the saw blade in addition to when the guy gets his arm cut off.

  Hi Torgo.

The things that are cut on our R2DVD are most of the fight scenes between Matrix and the "p**sant soldiers", the garden shed scene with the pitchfork, the face slapping scene with the chopped off arm and most of the scene where Matrix fights Cooke. Cooke's impalement is also cut, including the line "Where is she? Cooke!" and the shot of Bill Duke bleeding from his mouth.

:hatred: Ah, South African censorship, thanks for nothing!  :hatred:

These are from http://commandofans.com's fan submission page.

Pretty hilarious if you ask me.
