SHAMUS (1973) - TCM played this last night. The film stars Burt Reynolds as somekind of private investigator who is paid to find some diamonds or something, but it involves the mob and they don't seem to like him poking around. It's an ok movie with very nice gritty 70's shots of New York City and vehicles. Other than that it was just Burt Reynolds being his usual wise guy character. Amost thought he was going into a pre Smokey and the Bandit mode at the end.

(6 out of 10 Stars)  Never cared much for Burt Reynolds characters and this is a somewhat forgettable film.

TCM played a bunch of these 70's crime type film last night including:

Shamus
Marlowe
Chinatown
Shaft

Raffine

This one does has a good 70's gritty feel to it.

Believe it or not, this got a lot of press at the time of its release because Burt's costar was "Morris the Cat".
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.
