The little alien/squid guy is from the Metal Slug series of games.  I don't recall if they were in all of them, but I know they were in at least one of them.

I thought it was cool & suited me & plus there was an old member here who used to make me angry, named "Squishy the Squid", so I chose it in rememberance of him --
