Dario's new movie is supposed to be the goriest he's ever done (so much so that the Italian distributor has already taken the axe to it, though hopefully an uncut version will be available in the states). This flick has some high expectations to fill, those familiar with Argento's work have been waiting 27 years for the end of the Three Mothers trilogy (Sadly, most of us raised the bar too high with the Star Wars prequels, and look what happened). Let's hope the master of Italian horror is back to his old self.

"Tonight, we will honor the greatest writers in America with a modest 9 by 12 certificate and a check for three thousand dollars...three thousand dollars? Stephen King makes more than that for writing boo on a cocktail napkin." - Jimmy Breslin

I'll watch it... Actually, I'm looking forward to it.   I love Argento, but I'm not putting my expectations very high for it.  I have never seen Inferno, but everything I've heard has been negative.  Also, I was kinda unimpressed with Susperia.  Sure it was cool and creepy and has the massive cult following, but I didn't like it nearly as much as some of Argento's other stuff.

Would a Phenomena sequel work for him?

Argento is not as finished as his detractors think (Non he sonno and his Jennifer chapter in Masters of Horror are enough proof), but he's also missing the creativity that made his films so unique. Let's hope this film marks a return to form, and if not, at least a clever self reinvention.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
